Solid Waste Planning

The Solid Waste Community Planning Process is a collaborative initiative between the Del Norte Solid Waste Authority, Del Norte Solid Waste Task Force and the Del Norte and Tribal Lands Community Food Council, aimed at enhancing organic waste management and food rescue efforts in Del Norte. Funded by Cal Recycle and in an effort to meet priorities of SB 1383, this project engages community stakeholders through a series of public meetings to develop a comprehensive plan for food rescue, yard debris management, and organic waste processing—all with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening local resilience.

By improving how we manage organic waste, this project will:

  • Reduce environmental impact

  • Support local food security

  • Create a more resilient waste system for Del Norte County.

We invite community members, businesses, and organizations to join us in shaping a sustainable future.
